Every January, product analysts and experts from the Good Housekeeping Institute descend upon Las Vegas to discover the most buzzed about new tech products and gadgets at CES (previously known as the Consumer Electronics Show).
This influential trade show has been around for decades (I should know, I first attended it in the womb!), and while it's still the best place to find out about the latest in cutting-edge TVs and other home electronics, it has also expanded into a host of other product categories influenced by tech, including cleaning and household innovations, health and wellness products, automobiles, baby and kid gear, skincare gadgets and more.
"After a somewhat subdued, hybrid CES in 2022, this year's show was back in full frenzy, with 100,000-plus attendees checking out the latest and greatest from more than 3,000 companies worldwide," says Dan DiClerico, director of Home Improvement & Outdoor at the GH Institute.
As our team walked through the various exhibit halls, several themes emerged among the highlighted products and technologies, including sustainability, inclusivity, design, health and comfort. In particular, we were excited by the developments we saw in the smart home space, where brands showcased ease of use and practicality — and with the launch of Matter, an interoperational standard for smart home devices, our Media & Tech Analyst Olivia Lipski points out that this new common language should allow for more harmony amongst various smart home ecosystems.
Here, the Good Housekeeping Institute's top picks from CES 2023 that our engineers, scientists, analysts and editors can't wait to test in our Labs once they hit the market in coming months.
Rachel Rothman was the chief technologist and executive technical director of the Good Housekeeping Institute for over 15 years, overseeing testing methodology, implementation and reporting for all GH Labs. She also managed GH's research division and the analysis of applicants for the GH Seal and all other testing emblems.
