For over 135 years, Good Housekeeping has been a leading source of science-backed health advice. In addition to relying on the expertise of our in-house engineers, analysts and product experts in the century-old Good Housekeeping Institute, our experienced in-house health editors thoroughly fact-check and review all of our health content and health product reviews.

But we don't stop there: To ensure that we are delivering the most accurate, trustworthy and up-to-date health information to our readers, we rely on the expertise and oversight of the Good Housekeeping Medical Review Board, which is comprised of leading experts in the fields of fitness, nutrition, dermatology, oncology, gynecology, internal medicine and more. Our advisory board members regularly review our healthcare articles and features to assess the accuracy of the medical information within, in order to ensure it is based on the most credible sources and most current research available.

About the Good Housekeeping Medical Review Board

Shared with our sister brand Prevention, our Medical Review Board is comprised of some 40 board-certified physicians and registered dietitians across a range of medical specializations. Every professional on our board has secured their credentials from some of the world's most prestigious universities, and is widely considered a respected expert in their field.

When you spot a "medically reviewed by" byline at the top of one of our health stories, you can trust that the information has been carefully vetted by one of our board members to ensure that our content is accurate and up-to-date. When a board member reviews an article, they making sure that our health writers and editors are citing the most recent and relevant studies, quoting the appropriate experts and generally providing our readers with the most accurate and up-to-date clinical data and industry research.

Our review process and methodology

The members of our Medical Review Board have been carefully selected by Good Housekeeping and Prevention editors based on their expertise and experience as leaders in their fields.

The review process starts with our seasoned writers and editors, who take care to adhere to the highest standards of health journalistic practices, relying on gold-standard medical research whenever possible. Members of our medical advisory board then review relevant stories in our library of health content content to make sure the information is factually accurate, easy to understand, backed by science and reflects the most up-to-date research. They will flag anything that needs to be updated to our editors, who will then edit the article based on their feedback. After that, we add a "medically reviewed by" note under the author's byline, so that you know the content you're reading has been vetted and approved by a member of our board.
